Celebrating Lisa Georgeson & Troy Grant – Pillars of Long Beach Junior Golf

Some leaders leave a mark on the game. Others leave a mark on people. Lisa Georgeson and Troy Grant have done both. They are shaping the future of golf in Long Beach through their skill and generosity. They have an unwavering belief in the next generation.

For my family, their impact is deeply personal. My son Zachary grew up in the Long Beach Junior Golf program, spending countless hours at Heartwell Golf Course. It was there that, with guidance from leaders like Lisa and Troy, he first saw how golf could be more than a sport. He realized it could be a community. It could also be a calling, and a way to live with purpose.

Today, Zachary is attending the PGA Management School. He is chasing a dream that was sparked by their passion for teaching kids the game. Lisa’s dedication to building opportunities for juniors gave him life lessons. Troy’s hands-on mentorship provided values and a role model worth emulating.

Troy has been more than just a trusted friend. He has been a mentor. He helped countless juniors improve their game. He showed them what it means to carry oneself with integrity. Lisa’s leadership has made junior golf programs across the city better. Her commitment ensures that every young player feels welcome. Every player feels supported.

Junior golf in Long Beach is thriving because of leaders like Lisa Georgeson and Troy Grant. It is better, stronger, and more inclusive than ever before. Their induction into the Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame is not just a recognition of past achievements. It also celebrates the lives they continue to shape.

On behalf of my family, and especially Zachary, thank you for the lessons and the encouragement. Thank you for the belief that golf can change lives. You’ve proven it — and we’re living it.
